Now Hiring Teachers for Fall 2010

Student Documentary Will Screen in the Tribeca Film Festival's Youth Screening Series, Our City, My Story

Ninth grader Jacquelyn Gutierrez' documentary movie, Teenage Motherhood, will screen on April 30th at 12:00pm at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center. The movie, which began as a project in a 9th grade production class, tells the story of a young mother attempting to meet the challenges of motherhood while continuing to pursue her education.

 

ACTvF Earns Top Scores on 2008-2009 Learning Environment Surveys

The results of the NYC DOE's 2008-2009 Learning Environment Surveys of all schools are in and we are proud to report that on academic expectations and communication we received the #1 score of all four-year high schools in NYC!!! On engagement we were number #2 and on safety and respect we were #9. Our survey results were compared to 313 other high schools.

Construction Begins on Sound Stage at ACTvF

In early October, construction began on a film studio which will be housed in ACTvF and used for advanced production courses. In addition to a stage, the studio will include a production office and a carpentry shop to allow for set construction and the management of professional production projects. The ribbon cutting for the new facilities will likely occur during the spring of 2010.
